A DNA-derived ingredient with a skin-conditioning role.
Our ingredient list names it Sodium DNA. It is listed for topical use as a skin-conditioning ingredient: a cosmetic role concerned with keeping skin in good condition.

Skin conditioning is a broad cosmetic category for ingredients used to keep skin in good condition. Humectants help retain moisture. These are ingredient roles, not measured results from our serum.

Studied for the appearance of a more even complexion.
Published topical research has examined niacinamide in formulations used to study pigmentation and skin tone. That is ingredient research, not a measured complexion result from this serum.
Hakozaki et al., 2002: niacinamide and pigmentation. The trials used a 5% niacinamide moisturizer and a separate 2% niacinamide-plus-sunscreen treatment. They were not a like-for-like dose comparison and did not test ZUVIE.
An antioxidant ingredient.
Listed in our formula as Tocopherol. Tocopherols are used in cosmetics as antioxidants and skin-conditioning ingredients. This describes an ingredient role, not a measured protective effect from our serum.

The moisture-care ingredients alongside them.
Glycerin is a humectant: an ingredient that attracts and retains water. Hyaluronic acid is known for water retention; our formula uses its sodium salt, Sodium Hyaluronate. Squalane is an emollient, an ingredient used to soften skin. Humectants and emollients play different roles in moisture care; this formula includes both.

No. The formula we started with had a trace of it, at 0.01%. We took it out. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of irritation in skincare, and for a serum you'll be using twice a day, adding a known irritant just to make it smell nice was the wrong trade. So it's fragrance-free. It won't smell of much — that's the point.
We can't honestly promise it won't react — nobody can, before you've tried it. That's exactly why we flag the patch test further down this page, and exactly why the sixty-day guarantee exists: trying it should cost you nothing but a little time.
The amounts are declared in our formula documentation, not a proven effective dose. We explain the ingredients and link the relevant sources above. Those references do not establish results for this finished serum.
That's the one question we can't answer yet, and we're not going to invent a number to fill the gap. Nobody has used this serum — not a customer, not a tester, not us.
