Honest notes from ZUVIE
Not tired. Your face just
didn't get the message.
Five things nobody in skincare will say out loud about looking shattered on eight hours' sleep. The last one is the reason we haven't sold a single bottle.
You slept. You know you slept. Then you pass the bathroom mirror and your face is still arguing about it.
That bit doesn't come up much. The industry would rather sell you a glow than admit the gap exists at all. So here are five things I'd want to know if I were on your side of this, written by the man making the stuff rather than by someone paid to describe it.
It isn't the sleep.
“Slept eight hours. Still look shattered.”
That line isn't mine, and it isn't a ZUVIE review. The serum is new, so there are no reviews yet. It's what kept coming up while I read what women write about serums that let them down, and it stayed with me.
What it describes isn't tiredness. It's a mismatch. You feel like yourself. Your face has quietly stopped saying so. Early nights don't close that gap, which is the frustrating part, because early nights are the obvious thing to try first.
It probably wasn't your skin that failed.
Most bathrooms have a shelf with three or four half-used bottles on it. Every one of them promised something. Not one of them told you how much of the good stuff was actually in there.
That's the trick of this whole category, and it's entirely legal. A serum can put a fashionable ingredient in big letters on the front and include barely any of it. Every word on the box stays technically true.
So you read the box, you believed the box, nothing much happened, and somewhere along the way you concluded the problem was your skin. It might not have been. You were comparing bottles with the numbers hidden.
You can't compare
what you're never shown.
The numbers are listed, not implied.
The six that get asked about most:
- PDRN: the ingredient this whole category is built on.
- Six peptides at 3%: all six named below, with the amount next to them. A blend printed without names and without numbers isn't a blend you can check.
- 2% niacinamide.
- 77.8% water, because most of a serum is water, and pretending otherwise would be the first lie.
- No added colorants. You asked why the serum needed added color. We listened and removed both colorants from the first batch.
- Fragrance-free, and no SPF. The perfume came out on purpose.
Six lines is not the whole formula. Here is the whole formula.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 · Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8
Acetyl Heptapeptide-4 · Oligopeptide-1
Heptapeptide-6 · Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
Every number is on the page, so you can judge them for yourself. They are formulation percentages, not independently verified pure-active measurements.
Niacinamide, 2%. A well-studied ingredient, listed with its amount.
Our niacinamide is at 2%. Niacinamide is a widely used, well-studied cosmetic ingredient. It sits in our formula alongside PDRN, six peptides and vitamin E. Every amount is in the table on this page.
PDRN, niacinamide and six peptides are all named in the formula. We publish their declared amounts and separate ingredient research from results for the finished serum. Read about PDRN.
It also has glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, two ingredients that hold water at the surface of the skin.
Here's what it won't do.
It won't change your face. It won't replace a treatment. It won't do anything overnight, whatever the bottle next to it on the shelf says.
It also has glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, two ingredients that hold water at the surface of the skin. We do not claim results from the finished serum that have not been measured.
If what you want is a transformation, buy something else. You'll be happier, and I'd rather not take the money.
What we have instead of reviews.
This is the point where an article like this normally shows you five stars and a woman in a towel.
The serum is new, so there are no reviews, testers or before-and-after photographs yet, and we won't invent any.
Three true things instead.
- 3,421 people have reserved and 2,145 more have joined the list as of the 3rd of November. Nothing to pay, nothing to cancel. They put their name down for a product with no launch date.
- The first batch has not been produced yet. The factory has confirmed the formula in writing (signed and stamped), including the fragrance-free bit and the no-SPF bit. That letter exists, so the paragraph above isn't just my word against yours.
- We aren't selling anything today. A safety assessor still has to sign the whole thing off. I'm not putting a date on that, because a date written in an email arrives at your end as a promise.
As social proof goes, that's thin. It's also all of it.
